People of Color Reading Challenge Recap

I joined this challenge because I did not think I read enough books with diversified protagonists. Turns out that the People of Color Reading Challenge was easier than I thought it would be. I met the level I chose, Level 1 (1-3), so next year I'll go higher. Here's what I read:

1. Shadow Blade by Seressia Glass
2. Most Wanted by Michele Martinez

Northanger Abbey

Title: Northanger Abbey
Author: Jane Austen
Publisher: eBook
ISBN: n/a

Why Read?: For Fun
Challenges: Classics, Show Me the Free

Thoughts: I loved Catherine and her obsession with gothic novels. I love gothics, too, and it seemed like this was Austen's way of taking a dig at the pulp reading that was so popular in her day. Despite that, I still enjoyed this immensely.

Off the Shelf Challenge Recap

The Off the Shelf Challenge would be one of those that I kind of forgot about. I am sure I read more than just the 1 book off my self, but whenever I would post what challenges my reading went towards, I seemed to always miss this one. I guess it just didn't excite me enough so I will not participate next year. Here's the 1 book I put towards the Tempted level (5 books):

1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
2.
3.
4.
5.

Book Lover's Holiday Giveaway Hop (US/CAN)

I wanted to give away something special for the Book Lover's Holiday Giveaway Hop, and I think I have just the thing. For some reason, I was sent a duplicate ARC of my favorite book (so far) of 2012
(yes, next year) - Bond Girl by Erin Duffy. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it, so here is your chance to grab an advanced copy before it hits the shelves.

Don't forget to check out the other great giveaways:

Sarasah Vol.1

Title: Sarasah 1
Author: Ru Ruang
Publisher: Yen
ISBN: 978-0-7595-3015-7

Why Read?: For Fun
Challenges: n/a

Thoughts: I've always enjoyed manwha as much as manga, but some elements in Sarasah just didn't jive enough for me. The artwork is beautiful and the story premise is interesting. Some parts, though, drag and I don't quite see the point of Thorny other than to be cute and annoying.

Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge Recap

The Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge was a ton of fun. I am not sure how bloggers got their recommendations onto this list, but I had a blast looking at all of their recommendations and managed to actually read more than the required amount for Level I (5 books) and that was without even trying. I will definitely sign up again if it is offered in 2012 and up the level. Here's my list:

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
3. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
4. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
