Bearing an Hourglass

Title: Bearing an Hourglass
Author: Piers Anthony
Publisher: Recorded Books
ISBN: 9781449844462
Why Read?: Book Club

Thoughts: A little more science-y than On a Pale Horse, but still a very fun read.  It does take a while to fully figure out what is really happening, but that is part of the fun.

8 Weeks

Title: 8 Weeks
Author: Bethany Lopez
Publisher: Smashwords
ISBN: n/a
Why Read?: Fresh Fiction

Thoughts: This new adult romance was not what I expected.  It was raw and honest, realistic while at the same time not.  A very enjoyable read.

The Coins of Zakynthos

Title: The Coins of Zakynthos
Author: David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf, Marc Gaffen, Kyle McVey, & Jose Malaga
Publisher: Dynamite
ISBN: 978-1-60690-450-3
Why Read?: For Fun

Thoughts: This first collected volume of the Grimm comic is pretty faithful to the TV show.  In fact, you might need to be a fan of the show to understand it.

Dying for a Living

Title: Dying for a Living
Author: Kory M. Shrum
Publisher: Smashwords
ISBN: 9781311080738
Why Read?: For Fun

Thoughts: This is a solid urban fantasy with just a touch of romance.  There is a lot going on, though, so it requires a careful read.

Rating: 3 stars

Grave Sight

Title: Grave Sight
Author: Charlaine Harris
Publisher: Recorded Books
ISBN: n/a
Why Read?: For Fun

Thoughts: As a mystery, this was a lot of fun, even if I did figure everything out way before Harper did.  However, there were a few discrepancies - such as food orders changing and time lines not quite matching up.  The problem with the audio book was I do not think Breshnahan was a good match for Harper - she sounded too old and made everything sound too grave (no pun intended).

The Relief Fisher

Title: The Relief Fisher
Author: Steve Lookner
Publisher: Sfuzzi
ISBN: n/a
Why Read?: Early Review

Thoughts: This is a fun, quick read.  I have not read Mariano Rivera's The Closer, but I think Lookner has a lot of fun with the story of a Hall of Fame pitching career.

Strip Tease

Title: Strip Tease
Author: Carl Hiaasen
Publisher: Recorded Books
ISBN: n/a
Why Read?: Book Club

Thoughts: At first, I did not think I would like this, but once I got into it, I really did.  It is a fun story, if a tad dated.  I want to classify it as suspense, but it is a little too humorous for that.

The Stars My Destination

Title: The Stars My Destination
Author: Alfred Bester
Publisher: Kindle
ISBN: n/a
Why Read?: Book Club

Thoughts: Very interesting story, and good example of classic sci-fi, but the dialect at the beginning killed it for me.  Also, while I understand the title, it could have had a much more apt one.
